Leinster Clubs receive €2.7m in funding

Tennis receives €5.4m in grant funding from recent Sports Capital Programme.

Tennis Ireland is delighted to announce that over €5.4m in Sports Capital and Equipment funding has been awarded by the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht and Sport, Jack Chambers.

This significant investment was confirmed in Friday’s announcement as part of an overall package of €150 million in new capital grants under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP).

Tennis Ireland is delighted to announce support for 83 of our affiliated Irish Tennis Clubs across all 4 provinces.  Welcoming the announcement of the funding, Interim Tennis Ireland CEO, John Foley said:

“We are absolutely delighted to see so many of our clubs and projects benefitting from the latest round of funding   We would like to sincerely thank both Minister Martin and Minister Chambers plus all their staff for their tremendous support during the latest allocation of sports capital grants.

This is a very significant nationwide investment in our community-based sport and will greatly assist us with our plans to ensure everyone has the opportunity to engage with tennis, which really is a sport for life.

Tennis Ireland has again worked closely with clubs over the past couple of years assisting them with applications in many ways, so it is great that this work has paid dividends.

“I would like to thank our previous CEO, Richard Fahey and all our staff for the tremendous effort they put in to secure this funding.  The number of clubs and projects being supported is totally unprecedented and we look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition.”
