Eagle Star

The Eagle Star Awards were introduced in 2003 as a joint venture between Eagle Star, as main sponsor, and Tennis Ireland. This initiative is designed for the development of Irish Tennis clubs, the backbone of the sport in Ireland. The objective of the Eagle Star National Club Awards is to recognise not only the players but also the vital contribution that voluntary officials give to the sport in Ireland every year. The programme includes:
          Club Awards
          Personal Achievement Awards

CLUB AWARDS

From June to August each year Clubs can apply filling the Eagle Star National Club Awards Application Form (download link at the bottom of this page). Member Clubs are assessed by both, the detailed questionnaire in the application form and on-site visits from independent judges and Tennis Ireland representatives. The evaluation covers areas such as Club Structures, Club Facilities, Child Protection, and On-Court Programmes.

The application and evaluation period closes before the end of August. Leinster Tennis elects a winner and finalist in three different categories:
          Large Club
          Medium Club
          Small Club
The winner clubs are put forward into the national selection phase before the end of September. The National winner and finalist in each category and the “Supreme Club of the Year” are announced in the Eagle Star Awards Ceremony which takes place in November.

There is also an award for the Commercial Club of the Year.

O’Shee Award: Junior player of the year
