TENNIS IRELAND

 

Tennis Ireland has developed a Coaches Education Structure with 3 levels:

 

Level 1

It covers the first phases of the "Long Term Player Development Programme" (6-12 years of age and beginner adults up to ITN 7). It is broken in 3 modules (Mini Tennis, Midi Tennis and Full Court).

 

Level 2

Before applying for this level, applicants must have worked for at list 1 year as a Level 1 Development Coach. Participants in this course may follow two different routes, Level 2 Development or Level 2 Performance. The course tutors will advise during the early stages of the course on what route they feel each candidate should take.

 

Level 3

This course is aimed to coaches who intend to train High Performance Players.

ITB SPORTS MANAGEMENT AND COACHING DEGREE

 

An Honours Degree Course in Sports Management and Coaching has been developed by the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown. The inaugaural course commenced in September 2008. Tennis Ireland has agreed to sponsor a small selection of tennis players each year. For further information click here.

 

 

CERTIFICATE IN TENNIS COACHING AND ADMINISTRATION

 

Dun Laoghaire College of Further Education.

This course is designed to prepare students with the necessary skills to coach and manage in clubs, schools and colleges and to meet the ever increasing demand for tennis coaching services. Students who successfully complete this course are awarded a Tennis Ireland Level 1 Award.

SPORTS COACHING AND DEVELOPMENT COURSE

 

FAS and Dublin Parks Training Agency operate a Tennis Coaches course. The aim is to provide participants with the skills and aptitudes necessary to become employed in the sports and recreation industry through the game of tennis. Participants can obtain the Tennis Ireland Mini Tennis Level and the FETAC Level 4 & 5. Also included is a First Aid and ECDL Computers Course. Recruitment is ongoing during the year but the best time to start is September/October to gain entry to the tennis modules.   People from the provinces are welcome to apply. A training allowance is provided and lodging allowance where applicable.

Sporting Chance is a ground-breaking new training programme designed by National Learning Network, the training and education division of the Rehab Group, to enable people with disabilities and others who are marginalised to build careers as future coaches, leaders and managers in the sports and leisure industry.
