LEINSTER MATCHPLAY SERIES
The Leinster and National matchplays were introduced in 2002 to provide competition during the months of the year without Open Tournaments run by Clubs.
Information on current matchplay is published as soon as dates and venues are confirmed and the Entry Forms are available for download in the News (Hot Press) section in the Junior web page.
The draws used are different from the standard knock-out draw. Players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches and they have to loose 2 before they are out of the event. They are run twice in the year:
Winter Matchplay
From late October to Christmas:
- U12, U14 & U16 Qualifying Matchplays are usually during the Halloween period.
- U12s, U14s and U16 Leinster Matchplays are usually around the end of November. They start on Friday afternoon and end on the Sunday. The draw is limited to 16 players (12 for U16), players play for positions and may have from 2 to 6 matches over the weekend. The number of players that will go into the National Matchplay varies accoridingly to how well Leinster players did in the previous National Matchplay.
- U12, U14 and U16s National Matchplays are the last weekend before Christmas.
- U10 matchplays are run separately as part of the Tennis10s circuit.
Entry Forms become available sometime mid September.
